Best American Cities to see Christmas Lights

Starting from the thanksgiving days onwards, people start brighten their house from outside inside with the magical holiday lightings. Towns and cities also turn into beautiful display of holiday glow. Here are few destinations worth visiting during holidays to see their stunning displays of lighting.

California

Visitors and residents of California go to Balboa Island, which is a manmade stretch of land just off from Newport Beach. It is home for an annual Parade of holiday Lights. Balboa Island is just 1.71 miles long. Homeowners in this area decorate their home with thousands of colored Christmas lights. Even some take their decorative boats for parade around the island during the holiday season. Residents held a competition for best decorated house, so they decorate in a new ways every year.

Many people also visit Festival of Lights at Mission Inn of Riverside which is located around 60 miles from LA.  More than 2 and ½ millions lights are used in decorating the whole Inn. It welcomes 30,000 people on the first night of the festival of light.

Baltimore, Maryland

Baltimore is always been on top position as a beautiful holiday destination. The city is very rich in the Christmas tradition.  The city becomes live with color of lights, events and several activities throughout the month of December. The waterfront district of Fell’s Point decorated in a theme of 18th century.

One of the most famous places to see here is the light display is Hampden. It is the Baltimore’s row house neighborhoods. Everyone in this neighborhood join hands to decorate their community with marvelous colors of light.

Another most popular holiday display is the giant 8 foot Christmas tree which is being made exclusively with hubcaps by artist Jim Pollock. It attracts thousands of people here.

Texas

In Prestonwood Forest, a suburban of Houston Texas, group of residents presents beautiful display of holiday lights. It was started in the year 1978, when the residents decided to bring together the idea of lighting up during the holidays in one single theme.  It is being celebrated in that way till date. They turned on all lights on second Sunday of December every year. And this symbolizes the beginning of the famous Nights of Lights of Presentwood.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is one of the ideal destination to visit during Christmas holidays. Snow white weather with a sparkling lightings of Christmas makes Chicago a very special destination.  The city sparkles starting from the Navy Pier to Millennium Park then to the Miracle Mile. 

You can also see wonderful lighting and decoration indoors as well. Like in the Museum of Science and Industry you will find most exciting display of lights. People of different ethnic community come here to decorate trees in their own way. Therefore, each tree looks different in their own decoration.

Well, another beautiful spot to see is the renowned Macy’s  store. The main attraction here are the giant 45 foot tall Christmas tree decorated with some 1200 Swarovski crystal ornaments.

New York City

New York city turns in to most colorful city during Christmas. There is a private 2 hours tour conducted to see the beautiful display of Christmas lighting and it starts from hotel Plaza Athenee. This will take you to the Tavern on the Green , the legendary Manhattan restaurant in Central Park.  The Empire State Building looks stunning in red and green lightings.

A visit to the New York during Christmas would not finish without visiting the famous Rockefeller Center. Starting from the year 1931, the Christmas tree of Rockefeller Center is the main attraction of the city.
