The Eiffel Tower was constructed in between 1887-1889 by Gustave Eiffel. It is 986 feet tall and was first built as a temporary structure for the 1889 World’s Fair. The name Champs Elysées means Avenue of the Elysian Fields based on the Elysium in Greek mythology. The avenue stretches from the Place the la Concorde to the Place Charles de Gaulle. To the western side it has number of theaters, cinemas, cafe and shops. There are beautiful gardens with fountains near Place de la Concorde. It is one of the most happening places in the city.
