Zion National Park is located in the south west part in the state of Utah.This park has one of the most spectacular views of the canyon. It is only 3 hours drive from Las Vegas and 4 hours from Salt Lake City.Visitors enjoy its huge canyon walls which ascend toward a brilliant clear blue sky.
Getting to the Canyon:
The big cities near Zion National Park are Las Vegas and Salt Lake City. It is a 3 hours beautiful scenic drive from Las Vegas and 4 hours from Salt Lake City. The entry fees to the Zion National Park are $25 per private vehicle, $7 per person for pedestrian, motorcyclist or bikers. All these passes remain valid for the next 7 days. However, there are other ranges of fees for the commercial vehicle depending upon the number of persons in the vehicle.
What to see:
Once you enter the park, you will find different kinds of rock formation. There is a unique sandstone cliff which has different forms of colors like pink, red, and cream. Violent actions of water, wind, snow are responsible for this unique and beautiful rock formation. It took more than 2 million years to form this incredible formation of nature which attracts millions of visitors every year. One can endure the beauty of Zion National Park by hiking on the beautiful trails, backpacking and even enjoy the scenic drives. There is mandatory free shuttle service in the Zion National park which runs for 6 miles and on the way it will stop at every attraction. There are buses every 6 minutes but may vary with seasons. There is no private vehicle allowed on the shuttle path, therefore there is not much noises or vehicles crowd.
Major attractions:
1. Angel’s Landing:
The trail of Angels Landing is one of the most famous in the park filled with breathtaking views. It has a narrow ridge which attracts lots of hikers. It is also gem for the serious climbers as well.
2. Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway
One of the most beautiful scenic drives in the Zion National Park is the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway. The view is really spectacular and will leave an impression in your minds forever. There are lots of turnouts and viewpoints from where you can capture photographs of lifetime. Don’t miss it.
3. Riverside Walk
It is one of the most soothing trail after whole day of rigorous hiking. The trail of riverside walk starts from Temple of Sinawava. It is located at the farthest end of the Zion National Park. It is a two mile easy round trip, which is also one of the main reasons of its popularity.
4. Weeping Rock Trail
This trail is only ½ mile round-trip with a very moderate elevation. It is one of the shortest trails in the park. The path remains slippery most of the time due to the water which is dripping from above.
5. Court of the Patriarchs
Well, Court of the Patriarchs is very short trail; it takes only 2 minutes to reach a view point. The view of the mountains is just magnificent.
6. Emerald Pools
Emerald Pools attracts both adult and kids. Its breathtaking scenes along with waterfalls and pools are just great.
7. Temple of Sinawava Trail
The trail of Temple of Sinawava is full of incomparable beauty. Filled with gentle slopes the trail will take you to more twisting channels. It is indeed very wonderful trail for the hikers.
